Hi. I have a user with infomaker 2017. When he opens infomaker, startup takes 20-30 seconds. When he tries to select a library, this also takes several minutes to load the folder structure and allow him to select a pbl.

He is working in a mapped network folder, which contains 88 PBLs, some of which have dozens of datawindow objects within. I realize that storing these files on the network is not the ideal, but the files need to be shared, not local. Infomaker appears to scan each pbl in each folder as you load it, which is what appears to cause the delay. Are there any options available within infomaker that would improve this performance?

Hi George;

   Yes, network latency times can definitely & very adversely affect the read performance of the Libraries (PBL's) that IM uses. Also, the speed & memory of the server itself and if its a server that hosts VM's ( the memory and dispatching priority that the VM has within the entire server) can also drag down the PBL read performance.

   Other than suggesting that you try the PBL placement on another server - the best by far, would be the local placement of the PBL's for optimal performance.

Regards ... Chris
