Resolved Wrong (old) cloudapplauncher.exe is loaded from server

Hello,

I'm confused about the cloudapplauncher that is downloaded from my server.

When I click on the "Download the launcher" button, a "CloudAppLauncher_Installer.exe" file is downloaded but it is not the one I expect, it is an old one I created some time ago for testing.

If I copy the button shortcut instead of clicking on it, then copy the url in the brower (http://c***.be/CloudAppPublisher/CloudAppInstall/CloudAppLauncher_Installer.exe), then the file I expected is correctly loaded.

Maybe there is some kind of cache where the old .exe could still be stored on the server ? I searched thru the server without success...

Hi Pierre, 

Since you say it works in FireFox but not Chrome, then I think the security config of Chrome is blocking this.  You get the same problem in Edge because Edge uses Chrome engine actually. 

I recommend you configure a trusted certificate on your Web server and access your app only through HTTPS.  So the URL should be https://xxx.be/CloudAppPublisher/CloudAppInstall/CloudAppLauncher_Installer.exe

Anyway, it is big security no-no to to run real app not using HTTPS.

I know it is a bit complicated, but without PowerServer going to cloud much more complicated! :-)

Hi Armeen,

Yes, I deleted that folder on the web server and uploaded the new launcher. I also deleted every downloaded CloudAppLauncher_Installer.exe files from my PC.

When I double-clic on the CloudAppLauncher_Installer.exe on the server (just to check), the title of the newer launcher appears :

               

 

Actually I see various behaviours depending on the browser I use. I attempt to explain.

 

Using Chrome

When I download and execute the installer by clicking on the "download the launcher button", the title of the old launcher is displayed, the app seems to be installed (the progress bar goes from 0% to 100%) but actually it is not.

Old launcher's title is displayed :

               

If I right-clic on the "download the launcher" button, copy the link (http://xxx.be/CloudAppPublisher/CloudAppInstall/CloudAppLauncher_Installer.exe) and paste it in Chrome to download and execute the launcher, the correct launcher's title is displayed, the app seems to be installed (the progress bar goes from 0% to 100%) but actually it is not, nothing is installed.

              

 

Using Edge

The correct launcher's title is displayed, the app seems to be installed (the progress bar goes from 0% to 100%) but actually it is not. Nothing is installed.

 

Using Firefox

Everything works as expected, the correct launcher is downloaded and executed, and the app is installed and ran.

 

Maybee an environment issue but I'm lost...

Did you upload the new Cloud App Launcher to the Web server?  This is overlooked so often.

As troubleshooting step, I would suggest you completely delete the "CloudAppPublisher" folder on the Web server and re-upload the Cloud App Launcher gain
