Hi Appeon team,

Currently we are using the version Appeon PowerBuilder 2017 R3 Build 1880 with Oracle 12c.

Recently Our company planning to upgrade oracle 12c to Oracle 18c.

I came to know from my friends that Appeon new release supports Oracle 18c. Could you please let me know the version that I need to use?

Thanks,

Aaron

Support for Oracle 18c through PowerBuilder's ORA interface was added as follows:

  • PowerBuilder 2017 R3 -- Build #1915 released Dec-2019
  • PowerBuilder 2019 GA -- Build #2170 released Jan-2020
  • PowerBuilder 2019 R2 -- Build #2279 released Jan-2020

You can check your currently installed PB version's support for Oracle version via PB docs:

  • PowerBuilder Help
    • Connecting to Your Database
      • Working with Native Database Interfaces
        • Using Oracle
          • Supported versions for Oracle

Yes, Michael is talking about the beta since 2019 R2 not released yet. Of course the final version would also support the newer versions of Oracle, and it would simply be a higher build # than what Michael mentioned.

The PB 2019 MR that came out in January added support for 18c & 19c.

Thanks for checking on this.

GA (#2082, release date: 05/31/2019) & MR (#2170, release date: 01/06/2020 is the right one to use for Oracle 18c or 19c

Thanks,

Aaron
