We have about 4 App deployed to Appeon PowerServer 2017 Build 1756.00 working with iOS and Android.

Everything was working perfect, until Appeon WorkSpace released a new version of Workspace into Apple Store(I do not want to be disrespectful. I do not understand new releases not being comparable with previous PowerServers version but that will be another question).

Any way so now I have the iOs devices not working (I do not want to go thru the trouble of deploying workspace with apple store) and the Android working.

So my question is: when will Appeon PowerServer compatible with the Appeon WorkSpace new version will be release?

Regards,

Clarence

Hi Clarence;

Unfortunately, no - both PS releases cannot coexist on the same IIS machine.

Hi Clarence,

The Appeon Workspace currently available on the Apple App store is build #1988. This build of the Appeon Workspace is only compatible with applications deployed with PowerServer 2019, which currently is only available in the Workgroup and Enterprise Editions of PowerServer.

Regardless, the Appeon Workspace that's available on the Apple App Store will always be updated to the latest version available. This is because Apple's policies don't allow more than one version of the same application to be on the App Store. If you have applications deployed using the Appeon Workspace on the App store this will cause version mismatching to occur on your apps every time a new version is released. For these reasons, the workspace on the Apple App store or the Android Play Store is for demonstration use only and is not meant for production use.

To guarantee the functionality of your application with the Appeon Workspace, you must package and distribute your own iOS or Android Workspace tailored to your own configuration and version of PowerServer.

The PowerServer Toolkit allows you to package your own Workspace.

Packaging a Workspace is simple, however, Packaging an iOS Workspace requires a number of extra steps due to Apple's closed environment's security restrictions.

Here is documentation which details step-by-step instructions on packaging your own iOS Workspace:

https://www.appeon.com/support/documents/appeon_online_help/pb2019/appeon_workspace_user_guide/ch02s02.html

http://support.appeon.com/index.php?/Knowledgebase/Article/View/108/15/how-to-package-and-distribute-your-own-appeon-workspace-to-the-apple-app-store

PowerBuilder 2019 Universal Edition will include PowerServer 2019 (PB Edition) which should be compatible with the workspace currently available on the iOS store, but if you rely on the demo Workspace on the App store, eventually you will experience this problem again. For this reason, and to guarantee the functionality of your app, you must deploy your own Appeon iOS and Android Workspaces.

Cordially,

Mariano C.
