In very old versions of Infomaker (6.5) it was possible to view report results with Print Preview turned off.   However this feature was taken away from Infomaker at some point so reports can now only be viewed ever in Print.Preview mode.  I know that in Powerbuilder if a report contains a nested report or graph it is forced to print preview mode but even when I open a very simple tabular datawindow the print preview option on the File menu is checked and disabled.    We use Infomaker as a tool that is integrated into our application to allow customers to create their own reports.   We then run these reports from within our Powerbuilder application and give them the option to view the report with Print Preview off or on.    For our customers who are creating tabular or grid datawindows this is a real pain because they cannot easiliy browse the results until they are back viewing the reports in our application.   In addition it becomes next to impossible for the developer to reorder the grid columns (which is easily done in preview mode).   I know that Powerbuilder/Infomaker can handle this  so any know if this is a feature that might be restored  -  Chris Pollach?

Any ideas anyone?

Mark

In the screenshot below this is a very simple datawindow yet Print Preview is disabled and checked!

Hi Mark,

Not sure if this helps, but Print preview is enabled on the "Preview" tab, not in Design tab:

Miguel,  thank you so much for looking at this and for the reply - however I think you are looking at the Powerbuilder IDE not Infomaker.  In the Powerbuilder IDE, print preview is enabled (assuming the report does not have a nested report) and can be modified however in Infomaker that is not true.

Infomaker does support editing of datawindows that are not in print preview mode - in Infomaker these are called Forms.   The Infomaker application adds @1 to the end of the name to tell it that it is an input screen and therefore not using print preview is supported.   Unfortunately we cannot add @1 to our own datawindow names in Powerbuilder or Infomaker.   I think I will need to make an enhancement request for Infomaker!

Hi Mark, yes your are absolutely right about showing the PB IDE. Since you showed the design pane, I though maybe the same thing would happen in infomaker. Sorry to hear it's not like that.

Good luck!

I have reported this to Appeon as a bug - since it used to be possible to edit datawindows in IM 6.5.1 and not be in print preview mode, I am thinking this feature was accidentally lost at some time in the past.

Miguel beat me to it.
Be sure you have focus in the PREVIEW pane, and then the Print Preview option will be available.

Olan, thanks for the reply but unfortunately that is not true in Infomaker!
