Hello All:

Good Morning.

Is there a good, economical tool to create images for PowerBuilder Application.

Presentation of the PB apps is as important as functionality of the App.

what type of images will be appealing, pleasing for the below.

  • Menus - *.png, *.bmp, *.jpg, *.gif - And What is the size.
  • Picturebutton - *.png, *.bmp, *.jpg, *.gif - And What is the size.
  • Application Icon - *.ICO - And what is the size.
  • And images for other controls in PB paradigm. ( where we can resize, etc etc...)

Paint.NET is a decent free tool for creating your own or touching up existing images.

This website has monochrome graphics you can generate as .png images in your desired size and color:  http://fa2png.io/

Toolbar images are best at 16x16. Read the online help, and you should find the answers to the recommended sizes.

PowerBuilder has quite a few built-in graphics which you can use for free. If you do not like them, you can buy images from sites like iconfinder. 

As developers, most of us do not spend much time doing graphic design. That said, on occasion you must you can use open source imaging software like GIMP and Inkscape.
