Hello everyone, i'm testing the new amazing features of PowerBuilder 2019 R3 Beta. In particular the promising PowerClient C/S. IMHO this is probably one of the best pb features in the past 20 years... THANK YOU! :)
Reading other threads i guess some of the questions i am asking here are already being addressed but i will list anyway:

1) Is there a way to make the powerclient link to execute anyway the local app already installed the previous time if for example internet connection is temporarily unavailable?

2) Is there a way to call the deploy of the powerclient app using for example a command line orca script or something similar to the autocompiler?

3) Is there a way to call a SQL script to update even the database (i.e. new or updated table fields) or an external tool wich could execute the script during the update process of the powerclient before lauching the local application?

4) Is it possible to choose a custom installation folder for the end user app instead of the hidden one (roaming)?

thank you in advance,

 simone

Hi Simone,

Regarding #1, this is supported in the final release of PB 2019 R3.  You select the “Update when connected” in the “Deployment” tab.  https://docs.appeon.com/pb2019r3/pbug/ch07s03.html#defining_an_ica_project

Regarding #2, this is planned for PowerBuilder 2021.  Please refer to the roadmap page.  https://www.appeon.com/developers/roadmap#upcoming

Regarding #3, this is something you continue to handle as you have done in the past.

Regarding #4, yes this is supported.  You can customize the Cloud App Launcher.  https://docs.appeon.com/pb2019r3/pbug/ch07s03.html#uploading_the_app_launcher_and_runtime_files

Best regards,

Armeen
