Hi all,

currently we try to move our source code from cvs to svn (why not git? because we want to have the lock feature for some objects) and unfortunately we have some issues, which we can't resolve. I hope, someone here had similar difficulties and is able to help me/us...

We have the apache svn server. We use PB 21 B1506. We use the PB-native SVN, not a plug-in. In parallel, we also use TortoiseSVN. We are able to check-in our projects from PowerBuilder to the svn-server and to get projects from the svn-server, but the all-day-things are not working as we expect (not the way we were used to with CVS and our cvs-plugin).

1) If we lock objects, they are not displayed as locked to other colleagues on their client, but only locally to the person from whom the lock was created.

2) When we update (change and commit) objects, we can't see that the objects have been changed in the other colleagues client either, i.e. not visible with a update-icon. Only when we make an update it works, but we would like to see in advance which objects have been changed/obsolete.

3) Retrieving an older version of an object does not work either.

Have any of you had similar (bad) experiences? How did you solve it? Do we have to use a different SVN server, or even a different SVN client (Agent SVN?)? Links or videos on the subject are also welcome.

I would be grateful for any advice from you.

TIA,

gzim

Hi Gzim;

  For #1 & #2, that is the way it currently works in PB. There is an enhancement ticket in the system to have Engineering  address these issues. I'm not sure about Q#3.

Regards ... Chris
