We've recently have had a range of users in different environments report that when printing to the built in Microsoft PDF Printer they will randomly not get the print pop up box after the call is made from Powerbuilder. The issue seems isolated to the Microsoft PDF printer only as we've tested using other 3rd party PDF viewers along with printers and it functions fine. We’ve tried to troubleshoot the MS PDF Viewer with no success, I also was unable to find any known issues with Microsoft. We did migrate from PB 12.5.2 to 2019 several months ago (may or may not be related) however we’re only hearing about this now.

Has anyone else seem or had this or a similar problem?

Hi Chris,

Thanks for the reply, we do have native PDF built in already however in the area this is happening it wouldn't give the users the same experience. We did uncover yesterday Microsoft KB4557957 is causing some havoc, although we had reports of this before that update was pushed. It does seem isolated to a Microsoft issue, however I wanted to cover all ends.

Hi Dan. FYI: The NativePDF built-in option does not use a PostScript printer and thus, should not be affected by any MS-Windows updates.

Hi Dan;

   FWIW:   Since you are now on PB 2019 ... how about using the built-in "native" PDF feature instead?

Regards ... Chris
