The server 2017 install is much much smaller than prior versions.  I assume this is because the deployment components (toolkit) are no longer part of the install?

It appears that you can only deploy to a 2017 server from PB2017?  This is because the toolkit is only available as a PB 2017 update?  So if you are not currently running PB 2017, then you are not able to use server 2017?

There also appear to be licensing changes in server 2017?  It is now only CPU based restrictions?

Hi Mike,

That is correct. That is because now there is an .NET App install vs a PowerServer for all App Servers and, because PowerServer Toolkit is now deployed from PowerBuilder Universal and not from the PowerServer Installation (aka. Appeon Developer Toolbar). Also, you are now only able to deploy to PowerServer 2017 apps through PowerBuilder 2017 Universal Edition as you mentioned.

About the licensing.. The current licensing options are based on Concurrent Users instead of CPU based. If you would like more information on this please contact sales@appeon.com and we can provide you more details on our current licensing options.

licensing: The readme.html in the powerserver 2017 install says unlimited users and that the cpu qty is limited.  see section 1.3.  you should have the wording changed.

how will this affect future versions and maintenance releases?  Am i forced to be in lockstep of powerserver and PB versions/MR?

Although I guess the way to handle this is to have a PB install that is just for powerserver deployments.
