Yes, this is a limitation we could not avoid. But generally speaking, we try to make the IDE support as many older runtime versions as possible.

runtime support limits like that are unfortunate, but i'm not surprised, especially with changes with debugging.
Generally, I think having all the various releases of a major version able to run in the same IDE is good enough.

The most important problem with pb 2022 is that many components dependencies were removed, but may be still used in previous versions. So this would be a problem... It was a right decision for PB 2022.
(Discontinued) Built-in Rich Edit Control (TE Edit Control). You can replace it with TX Text Control in Application Techniques.
(Discontinued) Java and JDK 1.6 support
(Discontinued) Web Service DataWindow
(Discontinued) OData data source
(Discontinued) .NET Web Service target (using SOAP)
(Discontinued) Creating Web service proxy for connecting to SOAP server
Also JDBC was removed!
