Hi

We have an MDI application. On Windows 10, the appearance of the MDI frame is different from the sheet window (title bar, window control menu, etc.).

The MDI frame looks like all Windows 10 windows, but windows sheet look old.

Is there a way to modernize the appearance of sheet windows?

Regards

Thierry

As a follow-up to my previous answer, PowerBuilder 2019 R2 has now been released and can be downloaded here: https://account.appeon.com/download It has the enhanced UI Themes feature to address this issue.  Please give this a try and mark this question as resolved.  Thanks!

Hi

Could you upload some images so that we can see what you are referring to?

Thanks

David

The easiest way to update the look of a window is to rearrange the contents of the windo , grouping them where appropriate. Use a groupobx if it makes sense, change a list of options into checkboxes or radio buttons where it works logically - that kind of thing.

Also: color.
Also: use different images as your toolbar icons and for your menu items.
Also - changing a cluttered window into multiple tabpages.

Good Luck,

Olan

I think Thierry is talking about the window border on the sheet windows. While the window border of the MDI frame looks exactly like Windows 10 the window border of the MDI sheet looks like Windows 7.

We are planning to enhance this in PB 2019 R2.  If this is important to your project, I would strongly recommending upgrading to PB 2019 now and reporting any issues you find with the new UI Theme feature.

If you find any important bugs in PB 2019 please open support ticket so that can be addressed together with the UI enhancement in R2 of PB 2019.

Can we get the option to have the sheet title bar color match the frame window title bar? As far as I know Windows 10 changed how the title bar color is set and the setting 'Active Title Bar' is now only used by sheet window. I only have one MDI program that is not PowerBuilder and it has the same issue.

This refers to sheet type windows. More exactly the title bar of these windows

Thank you

I understand your problem now, and yes you are stuck with that. As Armeen says you will have to wait for 2019R2 to see this being addressed.

thank you Thierry, is there something i should do to make it work? i still see the old styled icons on the title bar of sheet windows opened on a mdi app (using opensheetwithparm).

could it depend by the fact i am not using themes?

I have tested it with PB2019R2, the title bar of sheet windows only changes by applying a theme to the application.

You could define a simply custom theme to change only a few things to get the new style.

You dont have to use only the appeon themes.

hi tobias, thank you. using themes it does work indeed.

Is there a way to apply a custom theme only for the title bar of the windows? i mean leaving intact all the rest including the background? tia
