Hi Team,

Could you please help me with below question -

  • When Appeon are to release a new long term support (LTS) version of Powerbuilder 2021 and 2022.
  • Will 2019R3 be supported on Windows 11.  Currently it is not.

Thanks

Rohit

Thank you for your response. That was very helpful.

Can you also help me with some more questions -

Can you provide an estimate for the release of PB2022R2?
Are Appeon planning to release PB2022R2 as certified with Oracle 23c (the next Oracle LTS) or will that support be in a post PB2022R2 LTS release?

Thanks,

Rohit

Does Oracle announced when 23c will be released? At this moment it's in beta...

PB 2022 R2 is tentatively planned for July 2023.

It is too early for us to certify Oracle 23c. Whether it would be certified on PB 2022 R2 or in a post release will depend on if it is just a certification or we need to make extensive changes to support it. But of course, Oracle is used by many of our customers it would certainly be a priority for us to support it.

Windows 11 is supported in PowerBuilder 2022 and newer. Maintenance on LTS versions is focused on resolving defects/bugs rather than adding new capability.  So no, PB 2019 R3 system requirements won't change to support Windows 11.

In case you do decide to upgrade, I would recommend upgrading to PowerBuilder 2022 R2 since there is very good chance this will be the next LTS version.

Hi.

As far as I kwon there are not plans to support win11 in PB 2019 R3.

During elevate presentations it was mentioned that it's possible that PB 2022R2 will be an LTS version.

Andreas.

Hi Rohit ... Andres is correct. There will be *no* LTS release in PB 2021 series. PB2022 should have an LTS release but nothing officially announced on that aspect yet. Stay tuned for more information on LTS after the PB 2022 R2 release.

Hi, just curiosity: We're in the year 2023. Is there going to be a PB2023?

From what I've heard, no. Probably after 2022 there will be 2024?

Andreas.
