Hi, I am new to Powerbuilder, and Installed trial version online (2019), when I try to connect to database (oracle 19c), it gives me an error "oracle 11g or higher client is not installed or not set to primary oracle home', can someone help me out?

Hi Hua,

 

Please install Oracle Client on your machine and make sure the version of it is 11g or higher.

If the issue still exists after installing Oracle Client, please check whether Oracle Home is included in the Environment Variables, you can refer to the following link:

BTW, please note that PB IDE is 32-bit.

If your application is launched under PB IDE, you should install a 32-bit Oracle Client, if your application is 64-bit, please install 64-bit Oracle Client.

Can I change user variable instead of systems variable? I have no permission on the systems variable. it still does not work. I can connect with ODBC, but what is the differences between ODBC and ORA Oracle? if I use ODBC and others use ORA Oracle, does it affect results?
