We are going to migrate our application to Power Builder 2017 R2. We are thinking to use Power Builder 2017 R2 for PSR files, earlier which we used InfoMaker to modify the PSR files. Can we use Power Builder 2017 R2 to modify or create PSR files.

Hi Vipin;

   Yes & No. PSR files are actually DWO source and datum all in one file format. Thus, a PSR built in one version of PB is not compatible with another version of IM and vise versa. If you are migrating to PB2017R2 - you would also need to migrate simultaneously to IM2017R2. Plus, you would also need to refresh your PSR files as well.

Regards ... Chris

Yes, We are planning to migrate our application which is currently in PB 12.6 to PB2017R2. We have around more than 100 PSR files as well build in PB 12.6. When I tried to open PSR built in PB12.6 into PB2017R2, it did not ask for any migration as PB application does when you try to open them in any other PB version. We are thinking not to buy IM2017R2 as appeaon is giving IM separately. Do we have to buy IM as well for PSR files?

Thanks for your reply.

Yes. InfoMaker is just a subset of PowerBuilder so the PBL and PSR files are compatible.

What we can not do in Power Builder for PSR which InfoMaker can do.
