Resolved Configuring PowerBuilder 2021 with Oracle X64 in a Dev Environment

Hi everyone, I have a question in regards to PowerBuilder 2021 in X64 Dev Environment . As part as I know we cannot connect PB2019 with Oracle X64 running the GUI in the x64 Dev environment. Was this issue resolved in the new PB version 2021. 

 I remember the work around was working in a X32 environment to debug and review the code. Currently I have an issue that I cannot catch in X32 environment that occurs only in X64. Wondering if now can I configure a x64 environment without issues? 

 

I don't want to spend time configuring the environment that cannot use to debug code.

Hi Erick;

    64 bit execution & debugging under the IDE will only be available under the new PB 2022 release coming this September.

Your welcome Erick. While you can compile to a 64 bit App EXE in PB version 2021 & below, you have no IDE features or debugger to help you if your EXE has compatibility / runtime issues. So adding tracing and/or message box code & then recompiling the EXE all the time to debug, is not the most productive avenue. Whereas in PB 2022, you have a lot more direct IDE one-on-one with the 64bit App code. ;-)

I assume you are talking about running PB 64 bit within the IDE with debugger support? 

that has nothing to do with oracle.

 

If you are talking about oracle and connecting to it with 32bit PB, then you simply need to install 32bit database drivers.

Thank you, but I'm talking about PB, I have the X32 Oracle Client and X64 Oracle client as well.
