I have installed an application once successfully, using an install .exe

When I try to update the install, I invariably get this message unless I delete the folders

/appname and /CloudAppPublisher

The message is obviously some sort of permissions failure, but even if I run the installer again as administrator I get this message.

Is there any way I can find out what it is objecting to? it stops at about 33% complete.

Hi Kevin;

  Please check to make sure ...

  • Cloud App Launcher is NOT running in "Public" mode (requires Admin privileges).
  • CAL is generated to place the PC App in the MS-Window user's "Roaming" folder (where they should have full O/S permission).

Regards ... Chris

Chris,

it's the install application that is failing, not running the app.

What I have noticed is that if I leave the deployment version the same as before and just recompile then try to reinstall, it will fail.
If I increment the deployment number it will succeed.

I've included all the settings from the installer .exe that fails unless the version number is incremented.

Kevin.

Almost .. from that Dialogue, select the CREATE button and lets see what your current CAL defaults are.

Hi Kevin;

It might not be your AV, could be a Folder "Write" permission or Windows "Policy" blocking your App.

Chris,

The computer is not part of a domain, so no policies I'm aware of. I checked a few of the files / folders for security restrictions but there are thousands of them.

I tried running it in safe mode but this had no effect.

Is there any way to pipe the output of the install exe to a log file?

Would it help to log this with support as a bug?

Kevin

Hi Kevin;

Please feel free to open a Support Ticket for this issue for sure!

There should be a PC App Log file (pbdloader.log) located on the App User's machine where the PC App should reside.

For example: "C:\Users\<WindowUser>\AppData\Roaming\PBApps\Applications\<Your_PC_App>\\log"

Please attach this log file to the ticket and any Web Server logs as well that reflect this related error.

Regards ... Chris
