Got an email yesterday that included:

This email is to inform you that PowerBuilder 2019 R3 will reach the EOMM date soon.

"Soon?" It doesn't mention a date, but it does link to The Big Chart of Dates, which says 2019 R3 EOMM is "No sooner than 2026.01.22". (I'm managing to read this chart correctly, right?) "Soon?"

[Trigger warning: Cultural insensitivity ahead]

Now, I know there are people that start Christmas shopping in May, and consider the December holiday "desperately close" in July... but this warning is almost 2 years in advance. Is the explanation:

  1. The message was sent in error.
  2. The dates have been changed and The Big Chart... hasn't been updated.
  3. Someone wanted to send this out to get it off their plate so they could focus on Christmas shopping.

I mean if it's an error and/or truly two years out, I can shrug and move on with life. If the date has been moved up and this is the first clue, then "it's a perfect time to panic".

TIA

Hi Terry,

You are correct that 2019 R3 is EOMM January 2026 and that is definitely not soon.  Don't know why this was sent out now, and apologize for the confusion.

Best regards,
Armeen

do my peepers deceive me?  is this THE terry voth?  great to see you posting and that you are still active with pb (although your version is a bit old and apparently you need to upgrade right away)

@Mike. We're also still on 2019 R3 and have no way of upgrading. Each higher version fixes some bugs in lower versions but then brings in new bugs which won't be fixed until the release of a later version, but not in the one we'd be using. Less releases and more bug fixing is what I'd prefer.

I'm not sure the other Terry Voths would appreciate me taking the title "THE", but I can go with "Oh, THAT one" (where are the rolling eye emojis when you need them???)
