I am looking to deploy our application on 2022 R3 but we still have many customers running Windows 2012 R2.  The help has a statement “No longer supports installing runtime to Windows Server 2012 R2”.  It is also flagged as 'Discontinued' which means they have removed this feature from the product but what 'feature' would have been removed for the OS?  I have also read some posts about people running R3 on a Windows 2012 R2 server so I am confused as to what this all really means.

I would really like to move to R3 but this will for sure stop me. Anyone have insight into this?

Thanks again,

Chris Craft

Hi Chris;

  While your App(s) might work - What this means is ...

  • Appeon has not tested R3 on that O/S server release.
  • Appeon has moved to using the VC++ 2022 compiler for both the PB 2022 R3 IDE & runtime vs VC++ 2010 compiler. From the MS website on VS2022 ..  "Visual Studio 2022 version 17.7 and higher doesn't install on Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2012 R2".
  • Appeon will not support Apps deployed to this O/S server release.

So basically what this means is ... "Use at your own risk".  HTH

Regards ... Chris

Thanks Chris - that is what I figured. Hopefully others might be able to tell me if there have been any issues running it. I would hate for this to be a potential stopping point.
