Hi, Appeon

If windows 10x natively will support only app PWA, and UWP (initially);

What are the possibilities that SnapDevelop in the future will have the option of creating the manifest for the PowerBuilder app to directly generate the .apx package as Visual Studio does

Best Regards Milton

Hi Milton,

Our product roadmap page is quite focused on PowerBuilder rather than covering our entire portfolio of products (e.g. SnapDevelop).  In fact, we have a great roadmap planned for SnapDevelop.

  • Q4 2021 we plan to release SnapDevelop 2022, which will support creating AngularJS HTML-based UI.
  • Some time in 2022 we plan to release SnapDevelop 2022 R2, which will support creating ASP.NET Core pages or ReactJS HTML-based UI.

So by the time of R2 you will have 3 very popular UI technologies to choose from for delivering HTML to the web browser!

By the way, PWAs are a bit complicated to create.  Unless you need offline capability, I would recommend simply to go with HTML pages using the Web browser.  This way your app to be used on any device and OS with a Web browser.

Best regards,
Armeen

Hi,Armeen

Thank you for your answer;

So we should start to learn AngularJS ,ReactJS or ASP.NET Core. As exist PowerMigrator, will can migrate something of UI of PowerBuilder to any of the technology JS?

Best Regards,

Milton

We don’t plan to do automatic migration of the whole UI. Maybe in few years we will provide a HTML DataWindow, but still cannot automatically migrate your whole UI.

If you want to automatically migrate everything, PowerServer is the only solution.
