I need to maintain an old system for which I have the source code (PBLs).

It was built using PowerBuilder 9.0.1.7236.

My only legal archived version is 9.0.0.5507.

I've been to www.sybase.com which redirected me to SAP where the earliest Powerbuilder I can find is 11.5.

Does anyone know where I can go to find PB 9.0.1.7236?

TIA

Larry Peters

As long as you deploy the runtime dll files that match the exe, you should be fine. The only problem would be if you need any of the bug fixes or minor improvements.

I have installers for 9.0.3 (Build 8004) and EBF14228 (build 8836). There are no official downloads for versions 12.6 or earlier.

If you had a license for PB 9 and a support agreement, you are legally allowed all updates to that major version. I can post my installers somewhere if you want them.

Hi Roland,

We have valid licenses for PowerBuilder starting with PB5.0. (including 9.0, 10, 11, 11.5, 12, 12.5, 12.5.2, 12.6 and now Appeon) The problem is we never kept reliable backups in the early days of PB. We do have a backup of PB9.0.0.5507 but the client had a version we provided using 9.0.1.7236 and now we are somewhat embarrassed.

I am looking for a legal download site as I do have a valid license (actually 4 licenses) ever since 2005.

If you have an installer for 9.1.1.7236 I'm pretty sure I can use it. How large is the file? Would Dropbox handle it?

Thanks

As a topic for discussion on a rainy day, we find that with many of our customers, although we regularly upgrade our product with the latest versions of our software linked using the latest versions of PB, they, the customers, prefer not to invest time and effort in re-testing and so tend to use the oldest stable version they have. As a result, some are now running in Virtual environments as this is the cheapest solution.

As an example, the customer using the PB 9.0.1.7236 software has had at least 5 upgrades after that version all of which are sitting in some office drawer, unused (they were and still are supplied on DVD with our labelling).
