PB Apps created in PB2017 R2 run fine when I remote and RDP to my desktop,

However, when I use VPN to connect and RDP to my desktop and run the same apps they run very slow and in some instances timeout.

Any assistance will be gratefully appreciated.

Hi, Rehees -

Is the PB app installed locally on the PC or is on a network server (accessed via the VPN, for example)? Database details? Do other non-PB apps in similar configuration also run slowly? How is overall responsiveness when connected to the VPN outside of the PB app? There are several factors that can influence performance on a VPN connection. What have you ruled out?

There have been some recent posts regarding remote desktop performance. Have you looked at those threads?

Regards, John

Rehees -

It has been my experience that using a VPN slows down your internet speed SIGNIFICANTLY. That is only to be expected, but it does cause dependent applications to also slow down when they access the internet.

The best practice  for the best possible performance is:
       1)  Install the PowerBuilder IDE on the C drive of your platform (PC or VM)
       2)  Use an solid state drive for your installed programs, if possible
       3)  Ensure your platform has at least 4 GB or RAM; 8 is better
       4) Follow the advice here:

Good Luck,

Olan
