Tip: Appeon Powerbuilder User's Guide - Chapter 30 "Using OLE in a DataWindow Object"

A scan of the PB examples in CodeXchange show there are a few examples involving OLE. Have you examined them?

hi

thanks for your post.

I searched on codeexchange both with the OLE keyword and with PDF, but I didn't find anything useful.

For "Chapter 30 "Using OLE in a DataWindow Object"" : I was not able to steal useful information. ( I'm not an ole dragon )

Hi Gimmy;

   I have an example PB App built in PB2017R3 that shows you how to work with three different PDF ActiveX based software vendor products via OLE. PM me and I can send you the example App.

   There are a few PDF tool kits out there that also have a PDF "viewer" ActiveX control as well. Those should work with PB's OLE based DW. However, I have not tested this aspect of any of these to date. Just their PDF creation, splitting, merging, fillable forms, etc features.

   FWIW: You could also use am embedded web browser in our PB Apps to view the PDF file(s). Food for thought.

Regards ... Chris

Hi Chrish

I can't use vendor products.

The 'embedded web browser' is nice if you use it in windows with the 'navigate' property; but in datawindows ?

Yes, unfortunately the DW's TABLEBLOB feature does not work with PDF files. That would be a very "Kool" enhancement IMHO. Then you could render any PDF within a DWO. ;-)
