Resolved Using SMTP for sending mail with a zipped file

Hi Roland,

One month before, I have asked you how to be able to define the mail originator when I'm sending an email from Power Builder program.

You have advice me to use SMTP (code example on http://www.topwizprogramming.com) which is working fine except when I'm trying to attach a zipped file (using Chilkat dll).

In this case, the email is created but the zipped file is not attached and the text 'Partially unscanned' is added before the content of the subject of the email.

Do you have an idea how to solve this problem ?

'Partially unscanned' sounds more like an issue with a problem with the email being scanned by anti-virus software.

 

I have free code to create a zip file, Chilkat is a purchased tool.

The emailsmtp_10.pbl comes from the freecode_emailsmtp.html page. You could try using the other one.

I have two completely different SMTP solutions on my website, which one are you using?

I don't know why you would be 'using Chilkat' with my tool, are you trying to attach a zip file containing the Chilkat dll?

Roland, Im trying to answer but I think it does not working. It is why I'm trying a comment :-)

My answer :

I'm not 100% sure but I think I have used the second link using the emailsmtp_10.pbl (freecode_emailsmtp doesn't sound familiar to me).



About the dll, I'm using a "Chilkat Power Builder examples" dll to zip a report I have created via PB2017.



After de creating of the zip file, I'm trying to attach it in a mail.

If someone from Appeon reads this, please tell the person that maintains this forum that words are split at the end of line instead of doing a word wrap. Very irritating.

Hi Roland,

I have talked with the systeam and indeed the anti-virus is blocking the attachment because I have to put a password on the zip file to follow the GDPR law (General Data Protection Regulation).

My free zip example supports password protected zipfiles.
