Hi All

We have today installed and activated PB2017.

All looks good so far, but...

Our PB12.5 project build was set up to use an External Manifest because we have a web service component we use to consume a web service.

With the new PB2017 we wish to use the PBC170.EXE utility on a stand-alone build PC. However, how do we configure PBC170.EXE to recognize the Project Security External manifest option?

Thanking You

Hi,

The Project Security External manifest option is not support, we will record it as a requirement in our CR pool, I will get back to you once we have a plan to support this feature.

For more about how to use the pbc.exe tool, refer to the standalone PBC user guide (pbc.pdf) in the AutoCompile folder( for example: C:\Program Files (x86)\Appeon\PowerBuilder 17.0\AutoCompiler).

This is a disappointing situation. Unfortunately I believed the pre-sales hype about using PBC to do our builds. This is obviously not an option until you fix it to recognize external manifests. This means that one of the three licenses we bought will need to be dedicated to a build PC and we will need to buy a fourth license. This is an unforeseen expense.

Related to the problem is a further question: With the Sybase and SAP licensing model each license (which were all of the 'offline' variety) allowed the user to install Powerbuilder on 2 PCs - a main pc and an alternative pc. This provided a high level of convenience especially when the alternative was a laptop, With the Appeon licensing model, 'offline' only allows for one pc. Is this something you will be changing? It relates to my earlier problem as if I had use of an 'alternative' pc this would solve my build problem.

Hi,

You can temporary log out from one machine and log in on another machine, you can log out a user remotely in the Appeon Website(https://www.appeon.com). It is only effective for online licenses.

Please refer to the license user guide for detail. https://www.appeon.com/sites/default/files/pictures/Downloads/Appeon_License_User_Guide.pdf
