Hi,

We are running SAP Power Builder version 12.6 build 4081. Now we would like to upgrade to Appeon version 2017 R3 build 1915.

Is there a direct upgrade path or will I have to install some earlier base version first and then apply the upgrade for version 2017?

Thanks.

Upgrading should be very simple since you are on such a recent version of PowerBuilder.

Simply install PowerBuilder 2017 on your machine.  It will not overwrite the PowerBuilder 12.6... it installs side by side.

Then follow standard process as you have in the past to upgrade your PBLs to PowerBuilder 2017.  We recommend making a backup of your PBLs before upgrading.

The migration guide outlines what has changed since PowerBuilder 12.6: https://docs.appeon.com/appeon_online_help/pb2019r2/migrating_pb_apps/ch05.html

Armeen - thanks much as I was able to install and upgrade to the desired MR. We already have licenses. What kind of licenses should I use?

Mariano - thanks for the prompt reply. So after the consultants have rolled off, we need to disable/revoke the licenses for those users, correct?

And can I install the same PB software that I have downloaded or do they each have to download their own?

Yes, you can reassign the licenses to a different email address. Please read the documentation: https://docs.appeon.com/appeon_online_help/pb2019r2/appeon_license_user_guide/index.html

Yes, the installer you already downloaded can be reused by your other team members.

Thanks for the prompt reply.

So should I simply download & install the below "PowerBuilder MR#1915 (SHA256)" version?

MR = maintenance release (i.e. updates).

GA = general availability release (i.e. full version)

1. First install PowerBuilder 2017 R3 #1858.

2. Then install PowerBuilder MR #1915 on top of it. No need to install previous MR since the #1915 is it includes all bug fixes.

3. Finally, open your PBLs in PowerBuilder 2017 R3 to upgrade your code
