Hi,

We have been using the native pdf method for some time now for generating pdfs for datawindows.

Because of some problems that not seem to be very prioritized by Appeon, we need to go back to using Ghostscript for one of the applications

https://www.appeon.com/standardsupport/track/view?id=5752

https://www.appeon.com/standardsupport/track/view?id=5936

Now I really struggle to make the distill-method work again. I have installed 64bit version of ghostscript 9.54 under Windows 10. And have manually created an Sybase Windows PS printerdriver.

When trying to save to PDF from the powerbuilder application, I only end up with a pdf with a blank page (and no errors appear).

Could someone point me to an updated (and detailed) description on how to install the Sybase Windows PS printer driver on Windows 10? Or how to find what is going wrong when generating the pdf-file.

(I did manage to install in the early days of Win10, but I guess something has changed. I have always thought this as a somehow obscure solution and been a bit surprised every time a new installation works).

Best regards,

Geir Vangen

Hi Geir;

GS 9.54 is "broken" when used with PB.

You have few choices to fix this issue ...

  1. Return to the last working GS version - 9.53.3
  2. Install the latest PB2019 R3 MR 2728 that includes the GS 9.54 fix. https://www.appeon.com/standardsupport/bugfixes/view?id=518
  3. Upgrade to the new PB2021 GA that also includes the GS 9.54 fix. https://www.appeon.com/standardsupport/bugfixes/view?id=497

HTH

I submitted this problem as a bug and it has been fixed in PB 2021.

Hi, Geir -

I believe the name assigned to the printer must be "Sybase Datawindow PS". I've not installed or used GhostScript under Windows 10, so I cannot offer any additional help.

Chris knows this stuff well, so I'm confident he will be replying to your post soon.

Best regards, John
