Hi,

We are in the process of migrating our operating system to Windows 11. Looks like only oracle client with 64 bit can be installed in Windows 11. The problem is, I'm getting error "Oracle library OCI.DLL could not be loaded" while connecting oracle database from Powerbuilder 2022 R2 Build 2819. Is this known issue or Am I missing something. Could you please help me with this issue. It would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in Advance.

Hi Thirumal;

  No .. W11 and Oracle can run either the 32 or 64 bit mode of the Oracle DB Client. I am running these Oracle clients OK on my W11 test machines for a few years now. That includes connecting to the new O21/23C DBMS versions as well.  HTH

Regards ... Chris

Thanks Chris for your response. Are you using 32 bit oracle client or 64 bit oracle client. It works for 32 bit, but not for 64 bit.

Yes ...

32 bit as the PB IDE is still only 32 bit

32 bit when running my 32 bit compiled App EXE's

64 bit when running the PB App from the IDE in 64 bit mode (new for PB 2022)

64 bit when running my 64 bit compiled App EXE's

Adding to what Chris said, you need to install 32-bit client because PB IDE is 32-bit and also most likely your client/server app is also 32-bit .EXE.

Thanks Armeen for your response. Our requirement is to have all applications with 64 bit only.

I understand, but PB IDE itself is 32-bit so at least on the developer workstations you also need to install 32-bit Oracle client. For the app itself, there is option to generate a 64-bit EXE and therefore app users would only need 64-bit Oracle client. If your app is not already migrated to 64-bit, please follow this guide: https://docs.appeon.com/pb2022r2/migrating_32bit_applications_to_64bit/index.html
