Dear all,

just to clarify and to be sure: there is no way how I could run/deploy a classic pb app (PFC) on PowerServer and then run/show it inside a browser without having to download/use the Cloud App Laucher?

Can I say that without a Cloud App Laucher it is not possible to show the app? If not, where can I find an example? 

There is an old video from 2018 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P3oRzFaWBRc&list=PL2Eo5uXB4T3kPHwRd6F-fsZk8fCW0ghJB) starting from min 2:20 where the app is shown inside IE, but I'm not sure if they use a plug-in...

I understood it like this: if you want to make a webapp, then you should migrate the source to .net/c# (with snapdevelop) and then deploy it as asp.net... is that right?

Hi.

As far as I know it isn't possible. Anyway, objects in powerserver are splitted pbd's (that may be encrypted), and there are also some internal api calls (as I understood it) that serve request from ui (pb cloud app running in client's pc) to db through powerserver and vice versa. What is installed in client pc is a list of pbd files for each object that may be executed from your computer.

Anyway, what you ask for may be worst than using cloud app launcher. Cloud app launcher does a lot of things like downloading each object (pbd) only when it's needed, and assuring that your locally saved app is always up to date.

The approach you seem to prefer may be implemented by yourself by creating rest api's and make your application consume them. But this may be a huge and hard work. 

By the way, what you see in that video is based on old powerserver (Appeon PowerServer Web) which is now obsolete. This technology was totally different from those that are currently supported.

Hi Gzim,

"Running inside the launcher" is a feature of PowerServer 2020 and earlier. The Cloud App Launcher is a feature of PowerServer 2021 and later.
These two products, PS pre-2020 and PS post-2021 are completely different architectures that are not compatible with each other. So if you're planning to move your application to PowerServer and you require that the application be run inside the Browser, you should choose PowerServer 2020 (which will be fully supported until 2026). However, it's advisable to use the new PowerServer which is one of the main development focuses of Appeon right now. Please visit this page to get a general idea of how the new PowerServer works.
