Hi Appeon team,

We have more than 5000+ clients in the Health care sector and other industries. Now, we are working in Powerbuilder 2022 and implemented as local network system. Actually, in this case we are struggling more difficulties to update any patches or any other updates. So, we would like to migrate our Powerbuilder application to PowerServer. We checked the pricing and session methods in the Appeon site.

  1. Can we know the meaning of User Sessions ?
  2. We have more modules in the one project. Each modules will be consider as a session ?.
  3. If purchase the unlimited sessions, it will be applicable to all our clients?.
  4. Each clients are using different databases. Any issue ?
  5. Any delay to renew the license a year, all customer’s application will be stopped ?
  6. What is the minimum perpetual license cost ?.
  7. Perpetual license holders are eligible to get latest updates in the PowerServ

Best regards,

Hi Shameem;

A PS session is one application connected to PS. If the business user runs a module - which is a separate app exe - then each business user would consume multiple PS sessions. That's only if various App EXE's were in memory at the same time.

If your App is designed to call only one module EXE at one time and then that closes before the next module is executed, then there would only be one PS session active at a time per business user.

Of course, if user's have multiple business applications active at the same time, then there would be multiple PS sessions per business user. That also counts even if the App's are minimized.

HTH

Hi Shameem,

You mentioned "clients" so I guess you are a software vendor?  Will you be doing SaaS or will your customers has their own PowerServer and database?

If you will be doing SaaS, then don't worry about meaning of user sessions and trying to calculate that correctly because for number of clients you have you definitely need to get the "Unlimited" size and subscription model will be your lowest cost option: https://www.appeon.com/pricing#powerserver

It's no problem to do multi-tenant, and yes you can use different database for each of your customers.  But it is important that the databases are hosted together with PowerServer.  There will be stability, performance, and security problems if they are not on the same LAN.

Yes, the way subscription licensing model works you need to pay to use it.  So you MUST renew each year and cannot let it expire if really you are stil using PowerServer.

For more questions about licensing policies, it is best you contact our sales department: https://www.appeon.com/products/request-a-live-demo.html

Best regards,
Armeen
