Hello,

PB 2022 Build 1982


Can 'SEARCH' option be added, when we right click the tab, along with the above option?   I think it will save a lot of time to search the window in the opened PBLs and then Right click and choose search option.

One trick I use is to sort the contents of a PBL by TYPE, descending --> so the Window objects are on the top.
That way it is easy to jump to the object you sesek, and it's easy to see what objects of that type you have.

Hi

I've a similar question. I remember there was 3rd party indexer plugin to Google Desktop Search Engine in times when it was relevant. Is there something similar for Windows Search Indexer?

Hi Tomas;

FWIW: I use PB's "native" Source Code Control feature for this. When you add your PB App to the native SCC, it exports every PB object into a flat text file within the SCC target folder. Once that is done, you can use MS-Windows search feature to search these flat files. Food for thought. ;-)

Hi Sivaprakash,

We have not seen cases in other products implementing your requirements (starting a search from the Tab).  It is not a standard practice. 

How about using the Tools > Browser function to perform the search instead?

Hi Everyone;

FYI: I do this searching all the time by using the IDE's System Tree & Library Painter while editing various objects. The search from these features allows me to target various aspects of any open object painter. Then use that "hit list" to "jump" around in the open object painter.

FWIW: I also use VisualExpert. It's the "cats meow" for searching. It then allows you to jump into the PB IDE & respective painter once you have a search target (ToDo) list.

PBSearch can create ToDo List items that open the object and go to the search hit.
