Hello,

PB 2017 R3

In one of our customers' place, preprinted output for sales invoice was going on smoothly so far.  Printer used was Canon LBP 2900.

Since the printer was ageing, customer decided to replace it with EPSON M100 printer.  They just replaced the printer alone and everything remain unchanged (same system, same application..).   The output

Canon LBP 2900 which is correct

Output from Epson M100

See how the output has moved for more than an inch.

The settings in the datawindow:   [ Nothing modified for any printer ]

Paper Size :   A4 210 x 297 mm
Orientation : Landscape
Left Margin : 110
Right Margin : 110
Top Margin : 96
Bottom Margin: 96
Units :  Powerbuilder Units

Why there is a huge shift in printing between these two printers ?  What should we do to print correctly ?  Any ideas ?

Happiness Always

Hello,

Got to know the issue(s)
1.  The paper was half-an-inch shorter than the standard A4 size paper.
2.  We have set the paper size to A4 in respective datawindow.

Canon (Laser printer) and Epson (Inkjet printer) deals non-standard paper in different ways.

Steps taken
1.  We created a customer paper size in Canon and set that as a default one and left it to A4 in Epson.
2.  We changed the paper size from A4 to Default in datawindow.

With these changes we could get almost identical printouts from both printers [ of course with slight variations only].

Only two things I can think of:

- the wrong driver is loaded for that printer
- If the paper is continuous feed, they need to align the paper left/right properly before everything will be in the right place.

It looks like the spacing is all correct, so setting up the paper on the new printer should be a normal part of the process.

Thanks Brad,

1. I checked with the printer dealer, says he's checked everything on his part and everything is ok.

2. Paper is single sheet feed. Max paper size is Legal paper size which is 14 inch long, width same as A4 paper size. [ our design is for A4 paper size. printed in landscape mode ].

Nevertheless I'll try reinstalling the driver.
