Resolved PowerServer Add Data Source

Hi all

I am trying to Add Data Source by clicking on the Add button in Add Transaction Object window in the Application Profile Configuration.

I am able to set up a Database Type Profile Configuration (please see attached)

However, I am not able to add any Data Source for my application's Transaction Object with the same input info (screenshot is also attached)

(Note. after clicking Test, it takes about 2-3 mins before the Information popup appears)

Is there any known and working solution available?

After digging through Appeon's online documentation, I found that the IP for TCP/IP port setting on our database server was missing. After it's filled in, my data source connection was able to get established. (attached)

you specifically configured for port 1433 and seem to have a named instance.

Out of the box sql server does NOT specifically use port 1433 for named instances.  The database server  must be set for that port specifically.

I configured an ODBC driver 64 bit on my Win 10 (attached) successfully. Why do I not see any in the Data Source dropdown in AEM? (also attached)

Hi CJ .. as per the PowerServer documentation, you cannot use ODBC to connect through to SS. You *must* use the built-in PS Native driver for SS.

I tried to establish the Data Source in AEM

I used Both the credentials to the server itself and the database on the server. Unfortunately, they both failed. (please see the attached Error)

This is SQL Server configuration issue. Your PowerServer is configured correctly.

Hi CJ;

  The problem could probably because your do not have both the 32bit and 64bit SQL Server DB Client software installed. In the App Profile that you run within the PB IDE confines, the connectivity is 32bit. In the PowerServer environment, the DB connectivity is 64bit.

Hi CJ .. Yes, the DB Profile set-up & check worked in the PS Toolkit's App Profile because the toolkit is run underneath the PB IDE and thus, 32 bit in nature (like the DB Profile and DB Painters in the IDE). The DataSource in AEM (and thus running underneath PS) requires a 64bit DB driver to be installed. HTH

I verified that my DB server is running as 64bit.

Now that's clear, I am more confused and frustrated than ever...



Since my DB server is running on 64bit, why can I not establish a data source in PwerServer? Is there some docs about this or secret settings that I don't know about?...

My best guess is that the SQL Server 64bit DB Client is still somehow not available on the PS Server machine.
