Hello PB 2019 R3 users,

Is anyone else having issues adding external files to a PowerClient project?

In the PowerClient project painter, External Files tab, clicking the Add Files... button brings up the "Add Files" browser dialog, but selecting a file and pressing "Add" does not actually add the file.

"Add Folder..." seems to work, but I can't figure out how to add an individual file.

Similarly, the "Create Package..." feature allows me to add folders to a package, but I can't add individual files to the package.

At home (this little test above) I run windows 10 HOME edition, powerbuilder 2019 R3 opened NOT "as admin":

-------------------------------------------

Edition Windows 10 Home

Version 20H2

Installed on ‎02/‎12/‎2020

OS build 19042.804

Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.551.0

Let me try on my work pc which is PRO)....

Interesting indeed ! It does NOT work !!! I've tried running pb "as admin" and neither works.

On this same PC at work, I also have PB 2021 (beta)... it DOES work on 2021 !

---------------------------------------------------------

Edition Windows 10 Pro

Version 20H2

Installed on ‎19/‎06/‎2020

OS build 19042.804

Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.551.0

I've also noticed that on PRO, when you right mouse click on a library in the Library Painter and then choose "Open Containing Folder", the explorer keeps "flashing" in the taskbar (you have to click on it). On home edition the explorer comes up to the front of other open windows without having to do so.

And I forgot to say: Yes, both the Home edition and pro are 64 bit.

Hi Chris,

Thanks for the response. I don't think this is working as expected, but I was hoping to confirm before opening a case.

"Add Folder..." works, but "Add Files..." doesn't. Just to clarify what's happening:

Starting from scratch in a new PowerClient, project, if I click the "Add Folder..." button, the Add Folder dialog opens:

On returning to the project painter, I see the folder and all of its contents, as expected:

However, again starting from scratch, if I click "Add Files..." and then try to select a file from the dialog:

Upon returning to the project painter, I see nothing:

If I save the PowerClient project, export it from the PBL and examine its contents, I see the added files in the first example, but in the second example I don't see any reference to any files that I tried to add.

If I understood correctly what Miguel said, it seems to be bug/compatibility issue of the IDE on Windows Pro but no problem with Windows Home. Please open support ticket for this and provide this additional insight Miguel has shared. Thanks.

Hi Ronnie;

In the "Package" area you should be able to add DLLs & PBDs. Then any sub-folder.

In the "Files" area you should be able to add any external file (or folder) that is not an image type.

In the Images/Videos area, you should be able to add any folder. Standalone Images though must be in the PB App's "root" folder and not already included within a registered sub-folder. The files to add must be proper image types.

A bit confusing I must say as you mentioned, you select a file and then it does not appear when you return to the PowerClient project painter.

Regards ... Chris
