Resolved PowerClient and richtext edit control versions

With powerclient, which version of RTE corresponds to "Rich Text Support"?
I thnk it's probably the "Build-in Rich Edit" (now marked as obsolete) and not "TX TextControl ActiveX v15.0"?

It would be nice to be able to also choose "TX TextControl ActiveX v15.0", since that's the way we have to keep using until a bug with pasting images and exporting to html is fixed.

Maybe we can get around it by selecting all the files for v15 as "external files"?

Hi Miguel,

Got you the answer.  When you select "Rich Text Support" option it is bundling the following 3 Rich Text runtimes:

  • Built-in TX Text Control ActiveX 15.0 – For 32-bit application
  • Built-in Rich Edit Control (Obsolete) – For 32-bit application
  • Microsoft RichEdit Control – For 64-bit application

In other words it is not giving you granular control which of the 3 runtime files to include.  Only for the 28.0 version you have granular control to get one particular Rich Text.  Please note the 28.0 version is both 32-bit and 64-bit.

As Ken mentioned, we will make this more clear in the product UI and/or documentation in the future.

Thank you Armeen, at least it's good new that we don't have to add ourselves the dll's. We can just select this option for the previous versions.

You're welcome. Yes, all the required runtime DLLs are handled by PowerClient. We just need to optimize this config stuff to be more user friendly.

That's a great question!  The documentation doesn't say? 

In case it is not TX TextControl ActiveX v15.0, please send enhancement request to product@appeon.com.  We can probably add this to PB 2021 or maybe even in a maintenance release for PB 2019 R3.

I couldn't find it in the documentation, but I decided to run pb the 'old' way with an obsolete "Rich text" and also with the v15 version. The V15 version has an icon on the toolbar for 1.1 style numbering (plus another one on the left for numbering). That "extra" one (on the right), does not exist on the obsolete one.

Then deployed and installed with PClient using what there is called "Rich text": It looks like this one corresponds to the v15 TX Text Control: The icon was there. So all good at first sight! Maybe it would be better to change the naming of the control in PC to include v15.0.

Thank you for your feedback on this issue. There are multiple versions of Rich Text Control, and PowerClient does not mark them better. I will report this issue to the product team for improvement.

In PB 2019 R3, RTE control can be one of the following:

• Build-in TX Text Control ActiveX 15.0

• Build-in TX Text Control ActiveX 28.0

• Build-in Rich Edit Control(Obsolete)



I think PowerClient should also provide the corresponding options.
