Hi,

We are currently using PowerBuilder 2022 R3 Standard Edition and plan to continue with this version for at least the next couple of years. We intend to renew the licenses in March 2025.

I would like to know if there is a "PowerBuilder 2022 R3 Professional Edition."

If such an edition exists, what steps are required for us to transition to it? Would it involve any migration activities?

Your guidance would be greatly appreciated to help me make an informed decision.

Thanks,

Ganesan R

Hi.

There is a Pro version. Actually, Appeon currently sells 2 versions the Professional and the CloudPro (Buy Appeon Products | Appeon).

Normally, you need migration only when you change from one release to another. This means that if you want to open an application built with standard to Professional or CloudPro, using the same major release (example PB 2022), you simply open your workspace. A full rebuild should take place! But this is needed whenever you want to build an application using a different runtime. Going from CloudPro to Pro or Standard isn't exactly the same, as some options may not be available (like powerclient deployment). But your pbls should be working fine in Standard...

Thanks Andreas.

My source code is based on PB2022R3 Standard (Runtime 22.2.0.3356).

If I open my workspace in PB2022R3 Professional (Runtime 22.2.0.3356), migration process will not take place. Is my understanding correct?

Thanks in Advance,

Ganesan R

Yes. I have done that win Pro and CloudPro. It works without migration.
