Hi Song;

   If you edit the DWO source ... does the 1st line say "release 17;"? If not, change the release # and save the DWO source.

   I would also open any other DW that does not crash the DW Painter and then reset the "layout" to the installation default. Sometimes a bad layout (because the PB developer has moved & closed various panes) will cause an issue.

  Another thong to try is optimizing the PBL where the troublesome DWO resides.

HTH

Regards ... Chris

Is "Retrieve on Preview" enabled? If yes, does it also happen if you disable the option? (under Design->Options in the DW Painter)

The last thing to try before rewriting the entire DW from scratch is to EXPORT the DW, delete the dw from the PBL, optimize the PBL, then re-import the DW.

Sometimes this bizarre dance will resolve a strange issue.

Good Luck,

Olan
