Resolved PB exit memory when trying to edit any datawindow

PB Cloud edition, version 2022 build 1892

For no apparent reason I cannot edit any datawindow anymore, even external datawindow. The moment I call the edit for any datawindow PB hangs for 2-3 seconds and exit memory.

I can compile and regenerate any object including DW, I can run the application read and write to the database. I'm also able to `Edit source` on datawindow, but I cannot edit in `graphic` mode.

Any idea on why or how to resolve this issue.

The moment I saw the word `registry`, I remebered I had that problem a long time ago.

That fix my problem.

Hi Sylvain;

  Your DW Painter issue is probably because of an improper painter Layout.

Please try the following ...

  • Close the PB IDE
  • Run RegEdit.exe MS-Windows utility
  • Delete the entire painter layout registry key, as follows
    • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Sybase\PowerBuilder\nn.0\Layout\Default
    • (where nn.0 is your PB version)
  • Restart PB IDE

Mr. Mazda,

I have migrated the application open with the 2019 RS to 2022 version.

When I tried to edit a DW in the migrated application (2022) the same problem occurs, PB simply exit without any message the moment I try to edit a datawindow.

Also I tried every other type of object including the datawindow control, I can edit all of them without problem. Only datawindows are the problem freeform, tabular, grid, etc..

I'm no able to work at this point on my application, I need to be able to edit those datawindow new and old.

Is there a way to fix this?

Do you have same problem with a different app?



Did you try to click optimize PBL option for each PBL AND do a full build in PB before you try to edit. I think your PBzls are corrupted.

I just tried to edit a DW in another application where I use another version of PB Cloud Edition Version 2019 R3 build 2703.

In that version I can edit without problem, it look like it is only in the PB 2022 version.

Are you able to edit another app with PB 2022 version? This will help isolate if there is some issue that is app specific or if your PB 2022 install is corrupted.
