PB17 crapped out while working on d/w.  then laptop crashed;  

IT moved the hard drive to a new computer and got it going.  but i'm still having problems with datawindows as well as slew of other things.

when i search the objects, it allows me to enter the search word, but no search window on bottom shows; the search window just disappears.

when i open a d/w, once i retrieve data to preview, it actually shuts down PB.  

when i open the query window, it does weird stuff like show me 3 blank results windows even though i havent started a script yet.

when i am in d/w, if i multiselect few fields to line up, NONE of the line up options lite up.. nothing is enabled.

i've re-installed pb17 after uninstalling it.  and nothing seems to help.  

any suggestions as to my next steps?
