Hello,

PB 2019 R3 and PB 11.5 in Windows 10

We have different projects developed in both PB 2019 and PB 11.5.    Sometimes PB 11.5 closes when we try to open a window in the IDE.  This happens only when PB 2019 R3 is already open and active.   The sequence is

1.  Open PB 2019 R3 project and continue working on it.
2.  After sometime open PB 11.5 project
3.  Try opening a(ny) window in PB 11.5.   PB 11.5 IDE just closes without any message.
4.  Close PB 2019 R3, open PB 11.5 and the same window (or any window) no issues.

This is happening rarely and not everytime.  Once it happens we need to close PB 2019 to operate PB 11.5 without issues.  This issue lasts from few hours to next day.

Anyone faced this issue, found any solution?

Happiness Always
BKR Sivaprakash

Since the issue is there in every possible previous versions, I mark this as Resolved.

Thanks all for your information.

I have the same issue with 10.5 so it isn't 11.5 specifically.

I've had random crashes since PB 5. It is, after all, PowerBuilder... ;)

Hi Sivaprakash ;

Personally,  I would suggest moving the PB11.5 release to another PC or VM away from newer PB versions.

Regards ... Chris

One thing you could do, is make a copy of your "old" pb 11 code to some folder and then migrate it to 2019, just for comparison purposes and that way you can check the code without having to use pb 11.

No Miguel, migrating PB 11.5 applications doesn't work out, as we still develop and maintain PB 11.5 applications. And we need to refer those modified code(s) as well. So back to PB 11.5.

One workaround is open PB 11.5 application first and then PB 2019 R3 application. This way the frequency of closure is much lesser.

If you are opening the SAME PROJECT in both 2019 and 11.5, then the code is geting confused.

After opening the IDE, do a FULL BUILD on the project before opening any windows.

No. We don't open the same project.

It isn't possible to open the same code in two versions.

PB2019 R2 randomly crashes on me without running any other version of PB. (not too often, maybe once a day).

Yes, Miguel, this has been an issue even in the earlier PB versions (PB 10.5, PB 11.5 ...)
