Hi - We have a PB2017 R3 application that uses a OLE DB connection with the Provider='MSOLEDBSQL' to connect to a MSSQL Server 2017 database. This is the newly supported driver provided by Microsoft so was wondering if there are additional benefits to replace the OLE DB connection we are currently using with the new connection type that I read read about in PowerBuilder 2019 R3 that uses the same MSOLEDBSQL provider.

Thanks in advance,

Tony

Tons of benefits.  Microsoft has in-depth documentation about benefits, and they recommend not to use anything besides the new driver we are providing in 2019 R3.  Below are screenshots taken from the page I provided link for.

But we are already using the new MSOLEDBSQL provider in PB2017 R3 with an OLE DB connection type.

That's not going to work properly or it may be falling back to the old OLE DB driver. We did work in 2019 R3 to support the new driver for MSOLEDBSQL. https://docs.appeon.com/pb2019r3/whats_new/MS_SQL_Server_enhancements.html
