Hello.  Not sure if this is the right place to obtain help.  Please let me know if I should post elsewhere.

Receive this message when I double click on any data window in my library.  I have attached a screenshot.  When I close it (yellow X in screenshot), PB crashes.  Receive the same behavior when I try to create a new data window.  Was working fine earlier yesterday morning.  Error happened in the afternoon.

I have no issues when accessing any functions or windows.  Problem is only with data windows.

Went to a previous .pbw version with the same results.

Any help you could provide would be appreciated.  Thank you.

Stacy

Unfortunately, none of the suggestions are working.

Wondering if I should uninstall PB, then reinstall.

Rene, when the IT folks went to delete the default layout, because there was no value set, they were unable to delete either

Sorry, I'm at a loss and not that savvy.  Any additional ideas?  Thanks.

You have to delete the "Datawindow" entry under Layout / Default.

Close PB and reset the layout in registry and see if this works:

I believe our IT dept has registry changes locked down. When I try to delete, give me 'unable to delete all specified values'.

I will reach out to them for assistance and post again once it has been deleted. Thanks.

That rings a bell. Instead of deleting a whole 'folder', try deleting sub items one by one.

By the way you should have rights to modify current user part of registry. Powerbuilder needs to right and modify information there sometimes...

Andreas.

Thanks for the response, John.

Did as you recommended.  Same behavior unfortunately. Crashed as soon as I selected the default layout.

Hi, Stacy -

From what little I could see of the pane layout in the DW Painter in the image you posted, I suspect there might be a problem.

Try restoring the default layout in the DW Painter. Open a DataWindow, then in the menu: View -> Layout -> (Default)

Then close the painter.

Regards, John

Hi John ... yes, that would be the correct way to reset the DW Painter as Stacy can open the Painter OK.
