Hi Team,

I know this is wrong platform to ask below question, but still if anybody has advise or has experience on below topic can throw the light.

Is there any tool to migrate database from SQL Anywhere 16 to Adaptive server Enterprise? I am trying the same through powerbuilder pipeline but it is time consuming job. Also still i have not checked procedure and function compartibility as well

Hi Narayana;

   Most DB Modelling Tools have forward engineering capabilities (ie: ERStudio, Toad Modeler, PowerDesigner, Aqua Studio, etc). Even some DBA tools included with the DBMS have forward engineering (conversion) features (ie: SQL Server Studio).

   You might want to Google around and see what tools are available and in your price range. Aqua Studio for ASE is one that I have used before on ASE

The ability the migrate from ASA to ASE will depend heavily on how you use SQL Anywhere. If you have designed your implementation using TSQL, you ability to move will be easier than if your design is using Watcom or mixed dialect. Given you have procedures and functions, you may find the process more complex.

Is there a reason to go to ASE? SQL Anywhere is quite a capable as a database and even better requires very little management (there is no need to have a DBA) generally. We have some very large user environments (many GBs of data) and large numbers of concurrent users.
