Resolved Migration Power Builder

Hello,

I currently have PowerBuilder version 12.0 for Windows x86 - 32bit and I want to migrate to a newer version.
Which version should I choose? 2019R3 or 2021?
Can you tell me if I can migrate directly from version 12.0 to the new version.
Could being 32bit be a problem?


I downloaded the version 20219R3 valid for 30 days and I have a problem installing it on a Virtual Machine. This VM is on a closed client network and I don't have access to the internet, so I can't activate the tool.
I tried to activate it without connection but it is not possible because the VM is a server (Window server 2016).

Is it related to the test version or will the problem be the same with a purchased version?

Hi Céline;

  The PB IDE is not certified for use on any MS-Windows "server" edition ...

Try a W10 VM. Note that App EXE's though are OK to run on W2016, 2019, etc sever editions.

Hi Celine,

Yes, trial version requires Internet connection and paid version does not require.

However, if you do not have Internet connection you can only install PowerBuilder on physical machine.  You cannot use virtualization. 

If you are doing client/server development I recommend PB 2019 R3.  If you want to deploy your project as cloud app with PowerServer then I recommend PB 2021.
