Hello All,

We have been working with PB since Version 4

all the time the tutorial and example have been using SQL ANYWHERE.

is any plans to move them to any other Database?

Is getting harder and harder to get a developer edition from SAP (and harder and expensive to get a full version)

also if some one have any experience moving from SQL ANYWHERE to other DB platfrom and have any tips it will be wellcome.

Postgres already supported, and we are planning to also support SQL Server and possibly Oracle.

That's all excellent!

I do think that Andres is implying he would like a version of the newly chosen "support" database, whichever one it turns out to be, to be included with the PowerBuilder installer, erffectively replacing SQL Anywhere with <the new choice>.

Our direction is to install to existing DB. We can’t cover every possible option so we focus on top databases in use by PB apps. Bundling DB makes the installer even larger and creates complications of us having to keep DB engine updated for security reasons.

Hi Andres;

The "PB Demo DB" is available in either SA or PG format. The Appeon Installer can be set to install either DBMS format for the demo DB. The DBMS software installation though is up to you & must be done first before PB/PS's.
