Resolved Install of 2017 R3 (1858) fails

"The installed version of the application could not be determined. The setup will now terminate". 

 

Why am I getting this error when running the Installshield install for PB 2017 R3, rel 1858?  I am currently on PB 2017 R2.  

Where is it looking to find the installed version?

  • Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Sybase\PowerBuilder\17.0

  What PB2017 version does that registry entry reflect on your PC?

I did not have administrator access to my machine. That was what caused this problem.

Ahhh ... did you now get the software installed when you run as Admin?
