Appeon Support Team,

Version: Appeon PowerServer 2017 Build 1858.00 64-bit Edition

Our user will use Citrix client to access my application within my company network. Our Citrix support team reported that the plugin is designed for single user installation. Please help to advise if there is any solution or workaround to install the plugin for multi-user environment (e,g Citrix XenApp) where the plugin can be installed machine-wide and used by multiple user at the same time. Thanks.

Hi Edward,

Do you run the application on Chrome or Edge? Please try running the application on IE to support multiple users.

The limitation of browsers, except for IE, is that they do not support multiple Windows users running the application on the same machine. Not even when users are using different browsers. For example, this is not supported: one user runs the application on Chrome and the other runs the application on Edge. It has to wait till the previous user exits the application and ends the process of AppeonMultiBrowserLauncher.exe, only then can the next user runs the application on whatever browser (Chrome/Edge/Firefox) they use. However, IE doesn’t have this problem since it doesn’t rely on AppeonMultiBrowserLauncher.exe.

Please refer to the article below to solve it if you have any problems with the plugin.

Kai,

Our company do not user IE anymore. We use EDGE and Chrome.

Users in Europe is concerning about the performance. They will access the application using Citrix client, but the plug in cannot install to the Cirtix server. Is it mean that there is no way to install the plugin to Citrix server to support multi user environment.

Thanks and regards,

Edward Yu

Maybe a stupid question, but why run powerserver if you're running on Citrix?

One option would be to update to PowerServer 2022.  PowerServer 2022 supports multi-user install, including newest Windows Server versions.  As temporary workaround, you can try deploy PowerServer 2017 using the IWA runner option.  Please note that PowerServer 2017 is very old and has been EOL for a long while.

Hi Edward,

Sorry that the Multi-Browser plug-in does not support multiple users, please try PowerServer 2022.
https://www.appeon.com/products/powerserver

For the IWA application which Armeen mentioned, please refer to article below.
https://docs.appeon.com/pb2019r3/powerserver_toolkit_user_guide/install_iwa.html

Please note that IWA does not support being launched by multiple users simultaneously via the browser either, but there is one workaround for multiple users to access the same IWA application. Below are the detailed steps of the workaround:
1. Make sure no user is running AppeonIWAServer.exe in the task manager.
2. Run the IWA application in a browser for the first time.
3. End the running AppeonIWAServer.exe in task manager so that other users can access the IWA application through a browser.
4. Then later always access the application via the shortcut on the desktop to avoid using AppeonIWAServer.exe.

Regards,
Kai
