Hi all.

I am new to REST API. I have developed and hosted the REST API successfully with SnapDevelop on AWS. I want to encrypt appsettings.json file as it contains some sensitive information like database connection string for connecting to database, so is there a way to hide or encrypt them.

Hi Ritesh,

SnapDevelop 2021 hasn't provided any Secret Management Tools. But you can just add some code to your project to implement it.

For the development environment, you can either use Environment variables or user-secrets to keep your sensitive data safe, refer to:

Safe storage of app secrets in development in ASP.NET Core

In the production environment, to safeguard secrets used by cloud apps, you can consider some better approaches.

E.g.:

Azure KeyVault, refer to Configure Applications with App Configuration and Key Vault
AWS Systems Manager Parameter Store, refer to Securely store your secrets
