Hi,

Is Appeon FileService dependant on PowerServer? I mean, does PowerServer must be installed in the machine where the Appeon FileService is installed?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Miguel;

  Yes & No ...

  • It is dependent on PS to run the Web or Mobile App that requests the FTP client processing
  • The FTP server though can be located on any IIS instance.

Oh Chris, excuse me to ask you for one last clarification. For the following example logon function to be successful

fileservice.of_logonfileserver ('fileserver', 80, 'username=user; password=pwd')

the host 'fileserver' must have PowerServer?

The FileService functionality is only supported in either a PS Web or Mobile App. The "fileservice" object and its "of_logonfileserver" method are only supported at runtime by the PS supplied Web Browser "plug-in" or the PS supplied AWS (Appeon Work Space) mobile device plug-in. Those plug-ins act like the native runtime (PBVMnnn.dll) but also include the extra FTP support.
