I have a client that is using using PB 2017 R2 - build 1756

I will be migrating it to PB 2022 R3 in the new year 2025.

But before we do that migration, the client wants to migrate from Sybase ASE to SQL Server

In order to test the connectivity between PB 2017 and SQL Server, I have created this database profile, but I am getting this error

Can you advise please,

Thanks,

Daniel Seguin

Hi Daniel;

  FYI: newer SS DBMS installations no longer provide the SNC DB Client. Microsoft deprecated that driver in 2015. So unless you have an old installation of SNC, the newest SS's will not have it. The last SS version with the SNC driver was SS2016.

  Even if you did install the old SNC DB Client, it's last supported SS version was also 2016. So using that DB driver with SS2022 would not support all of that SS version's DML features.

  Since SS2016 & higher, Microsoft replaced SNC with the the new MSOLEDBSQL DB client driver. Newer PB versions now also support this latest driver. I would suggest to that to condider switching over to that newer SS connectivity going forward.

HTH

Regards ... Chris

Hi Chris,

Thanks for the info.

In PB 2022, I have MSO SQL Server driver integrated

So I think we should move to PB 2022 R3 at the same time of doing the database migration, right?

Daniel

That sounds like a prudent move to me. ;-)
